Shortly after the launch of Steam Workshop support for Stronghold Crusader 2 we asked you to send us your finest custom maps. Since then we have received a tremendous number of thoughtfully designed and exciting battlegrounds, boosting the number of custom maps available on our Steam Workshop page into the hundreds! Picking our winner and runner-up was no easy feat as we put your creations to the test. Engaging both alone in skirmishes and together in fierce multiplayer battles, our team evaluated each submitted map in terms of their design, fun factor, difficulty, diversity and overall aesthetic. In what ended up becoming a very close vote, we are proud to present the winner of the first Crusader 2 Steam Workshop Competition!
Kyle-kr with his map ‘The Great Falls’
Stavross with his map ‘The Pyramids’
Due to the difficulty of picking a winner among all these great creations, we also have some honourable mentions that were close to victory, but didn’t make the podium:
Micha! with his map ‘Ocean Bay’
BlackBeard with his map ‘Paradise River’
Edward Newgate with his map ‘Archipel’
To reward their fantastic efforts the winner will receive a lifetime supply of Stronghold Crusader 2 DLC, while our runner-up will receive the first Crusader 2 DLC for free.
Don’t forget you can enjoy these maps and the hundreds of others by following the above links to Steam and hitting the ‘Subscribe’ button. So long as you’re logged in or using the Steam client they will automatically download the next time you start up the game. All other custom maps can be found on our Steam Workshop page:
We would like to thank all players who used this opportunity to share their own custom maps and missions on our Steam Workshop page. The Crusader 2 team is looking forward to seeing lots more of your creations on Steam Workshop in 2015, as we work towards free content updates and our planned DLC releases. Every custom map has the power to deliver a totally new Stronghold Crusader 2 experience. See for yourself by browsing our workshop page, downloading new maps and seeing if you can do even better in the Crusader 2 Map Editor!
