With development well on its way, Stronghold Crusader 2 is slowly becoming the game we’ve always wanted it to be. The team is now entering the phase of development where our focus shifts to game balancing, bug fixing and the little details that make it a fun experience worthy of the Crusader name. This phase is crucial for creating the sequel we have all been waiting for and while we are still aiming for a summer 2014 release, we remain determined to take the necessary time to deliver a great game.
Needless to say we are thankful for your patience and encouragement to take the time needed to do so. We have always said that Crusader 2 will be “ready when it’s ready” and we should be able to announce a final release date in the next few months. Once this day and date has been set you can be 100% sure when you will be able to get your hands on the finished game.
The Stronghold community has been a fantastic source of support from the very beginning and it has been our pleasure to receive such vital feedback when working on the game. During the last few weeks many of you have asked about the lack of engineers controlling siege equipment in our videos and screenshots. Rest assured we feel the same way and the team is currently looking at bringing them back into the game, fitting this into the current production schedule.
Since the very start of the Stronghold Crusader 2 project in 2012, one of our main goals has been optimizing the game’s performance on machines with varying levels of power. We want Crusader 2 to run well on a wide range of PCs and for the largest number of players possible to fully enjoy the game. As part of the testing process for optimisation we removed engineers, but we are now testing bringing them back without impacting performance. Realism has been important to us throughout the Stronghold series and for Crusader 2 we aim to achieve this without compromising the fast-paced Crusader gameplay that you know and love. You can expect a final update on this in the coming weeks.
