Is there a tutorial that teaches you the basics?
Yes. The game features a short tutorial campaign to teach players the basic game mechanics, followed by Crusader and Arabic ‘Learning Campaigns’. These are designed to familiarise the player with the different troop types, buildings, resource chains and other important aspects of gameplay. Complete the ‘Learning Campaigns’ to prepare yourself and take on the challenging Skirmish Trails, Custom Skirmish and online Multiplayer.
Where is the game manual?
What keyboard shortcuts and ‘hot keys’ can be used in the game?
Where can I find the Map Editor?
The Crusader 2 Map Editor is a separate tool which can only be accessed outside the game. To access the Map Editor, open your Steam client, click on LIBRARY → TOOLS and double-click ‘Stronghold Crusader 2 Map Editor’ to start the download. The Editor can now be accessed from this screen found under LIBRARY → TOOLS.
How do I place objects in the map editor?
Can I create a custom map and use it during multiplayer with friends? What about Steam Workshop?
Currently maps can only be shared in the Multiplayer lobby. Players that enter the lobby of a game using a custom map will automatically download the host’s custom map. Steam Workshop support is a planned feature we are currently working on, it will be added to the game in a future update.
Where is the new Co-op Mode?
Co-op can be used in Multiplayer, it is not listed in the game as a separate game mode. To play in co-op open up the Multiplayer mode, select ‘Host game’ and wait for another player to join your game. Once someone has joined, the Host player can drag and drop two players together to form a team. If you do the same with two human team mates these players will share an estate in co-op mode. If you are successful you will see a chain icon appear linking the two players, who will now share the same castle, units, economy and resources. While a team can consist of several players, a co-op pair can only consist of two human players. AI opponents can not be linked together as a co-op team controlling the same castle.
How do I increase the game speed?
In all single player game modes you can use the ‘+’ and ‘-’ keys on your numeric keypad to speed up the game and return it to normal again. There are three speeds available: Normal, Fast and Very fast.
Will the game be ported to Mac or Linux?
While Stronghold Crusader 2 is currently only available for Windows PCs, we are hoping to develop both Mac and Linux versions in the future. Due to our small development team and various factors affecting the timeline for delivering these ports, we are unable to make any predictions of release dates at this stage. We will announce news regarding these ports as soon as we can.
Will there be updates to the game optimization?
Stronghold Crusader 2 is a very important game to us and our plan is to support it extensively going forwards. As a result we will be releasing regular updates to the game over the coming weeks and months. The first fixes will focus on stability, with gameplay and balance bugs being addressed after that. Once we are happy with these fixes updates will move on to new features and DLC.
How can I rotate the map?
I bought the Special Edition. Where can I find the official soundtrack and the art book?
The soundtrack and art book included in the digital Special Edition of Stronghold Crusader 2 are both stored in your local root folder for the game. For example:
32 bit Windows C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold Crusader 2\Special Edition
64 bit Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold Crusader 2\Special Edition
How do I change the language?
To change the in-game language, right click on Stronghold Crusader 2 in your Steam Library and select ‘Properties’. Now select the ‘Languages’ tab, open the dropdown menu and select the desired language. The language files will then download automatically. Please note that, due to regional locks in certain territories, not all languages may be available for you to choose from.
I pre-ordered the game. How do I claim my free Steam SHK Power Pack?
All Stronghold Kingdoms Power Packs were awarded at release, allocated to each Stronghold Kingdoms account linked to the Steam account used to pre-order the game. To access and use the Power Pack content, simply log into the Kingdoms account linked to your Steam profile. As with all Steam DLC, the Power Pack can only be given to Kingdoms accounts linked to the Steam profile used to pre-purchase Crusader 2. If you pre-ordered the game and haven’t linked a Kingdoms account to your Steam profile please do so to claim your Power Pack.
I pre-ordered the game. How do I access the exclusive mini-campaigns?
Depending on your purchased digital or boxed version of Stronghold Crusader 2, the pre-order bonus campaigns ‘Delivering Justice’ and ‘Freedom Fighters’ can be found alongside the standard Crusader and Arabic campaigns under ‘Learning Campaigns’. These can be found in-game by selecting Single Player from the initial list of game modes.
Can I host a local LAN game with Steam in Offline Mode?
Is there a way to change the appearance of my castle?
Yes. Depending on whether you play as an Arabic or Crusader Lord you will have access to different tower types, wall designs and certain buildings will be different. Your choice of towers affects gameplay, with tall/thin Arabic towers offering you greater range but room for fewer Archers and short/wide Crusader towers used for a higher concentration of Archers with less range.
Will new AI characters be added to the game post-release? Can we expect the return of classic enemies?
Our plan is to add an additional eight AI characters post-launch, bringing the total number of AI opponents to 16. These will be a mix of new and old faces, with some new blood alongside returning favourites.
Where can I submit bugs and seek technical support?
Players can submit support tickets and view a knowledge base of helpful information at support.fireflyworlds.com.
I pledged towards Stronghold Crusader 2 on Gambitious. Will I receive a copy of the game?
Unfortunately, since our Gambitious crowdfunding project failed to meet its target, the project was unsuccessful and backers will not receive a copy of the game. As is standard practice in crowdfunding unsuccessful campaigns like ours do not receive any pledged funds from backers, since no money is taken unless the campaign is fully funded within its set time limit. No money was paid towards the project and backers were not charged any many, as such backers will not receive any of the goods offered in the donation bands or the game itself.
However as a special “Thank You!” to everyone who backed Stronghold Crusader 2 on Gambitious we will be adding our backers to the in-game credits, listing them alongside the game’s developers and everyone else who made Crusader 2 possible. If you backed the project please open up the game and look for your Gambitious username in the Credits section.
